In STD Testing

The surest way to test for STD is to go to a STD clinic and ask for an STD tests. These tests are done by taking samples of your blood, urine, or getting swabs from the genital areas. These samples are done examined in the laboratory to test whether or not you have the organism that causes the STD. If you have the microorganism, you are positive for the STD.

There are quite a number of STD that are rampant in society-Chlamydia and Gonorrhea today to name a few. Testing for each of these STD's differ from one another. Some may need blood samples, while others require urine specimen. Other STD's may need swabs from the urethra or the cervix. Depending on the case to be tested, testing for STD differs from one case to the next.

Getting tested for STD differs from one STD to the other. Some STD tests require swabs of areas to culture the bacteria and look for their presence. Others require blood samples or urine specimen to determine the presence of the microorganism. It is a safe and generally painless procedure and will only take a few minutes of your time.

When it comes to Syphilis, depending on what stage of the disease you are in, testing for this STD differs. If you have the presence of a Syphilis sore (chancre) then a swab of the sore can determine the presence of the bacterium that causes it. Blood tests may also be done to determine the presence of the Syphilis bacteria, although it is not 100% accurate for primary Syphilis. Go to an STD clinic and ask their health professionals for the tests and they will know what test will be most accurate to use for you.

On the other hand, if you have sores present and you suspect them to be from Herpes, then go to a STD testing clinic and ask their health practitioner to look you over. If they think that it is typical of a herpes outbreak, they will get swabs of the sore to see if they contain the virus that causes Herpes. If the results come back positive for the presence of the virus, then you are positive for the STD known as Herpes.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in the past ten years, the annual occurrence for AIDS between teenage boys of 15 to 19 years of age has nearly doubled. That is why it is now important, more than ever, to get regular testing for STD to be done so as to avoid getting and spreading the HIV and other STD-causing microorganisms as well. Go to a nearby STD testing center and seek help especially if you are sexually active and have more than one sexual partner. Always remember that even though you do not manifest symptoms, it does not mean that you are not positive for the disease; it may just mean that you are not yet showing symptoms but can already pass on the disease to other people already. Prevent complications and stop the spread of the disease, get yourself tested regularly.
