What Are the Signs of Different STDs?

Although many sexually transmitted diseases can remain undetected or dormant for years, it's good to have a few guidelines for when you do find that you have an STD symptom. You should make yourself aware of what is out there, and what the common symptoms and signs of sexually transmitted diseases are. If you think you might have an STD, or might be apprehensive that you caught on, then how long will it take for certain STD symptoms to show up?

Let's look at the average time for symptoms of common STDs to appear: Chlamydia - Although many people never have any symptoms, when symptoms do appear it is usually one to three weeks after exposure to the bacteria.

Gonorrhea - Gonorrhea frequently shows no sign of infection. When symptoms do appear they may show up as early as two days after exposure, or take as long as one month.

Syphilis - Sores called Chanres may appear any time between 10 to 90 days after exposure to the bacterium.

Genital Warts - most people will experience their first outbreak within three months of initial infection.

Genital Herpes - There may be zero signs or symptoms, but usually show up within two weeks of exposure to the virus.

HIV - Most infected people will test positive within 3 months, however, the majority of infected people will not show symptoms for months or even years.

Hepatitis B - hepatitis B usually show up between four to six weeks after infection.

Needless to say, if you find yourself with any of these symptoms you should contact a medical facility and make an appointment for a sexually transmitted disease test immediately. As mentioned before, if you are suspicious that you may have come in contact with a partner who is positive with a STD, meaning they are infected, then that is yet another reason why you should have a test conducted.

As you can see, the majority of the most common sexually transmitted diseases usually do not even show signs of symptoms, or the symptoms do not appear for quite some time after the person has become infected. Again, if you have any doubts, or you just want to be cautious make an appointment to have an STD test done immediately. You will be forever grateful that you did. Don't wait until it's too late, go get a sexually transmitted test conducted as soon as possible.
